1. Who Can Use the App

You must be at least 18 years old to use Message In A Bottle. The app is operated by Wannabegeek, a trading name of Andre Gacutan ("we", "us").

2. What You May Not Post

Messages are read by strangers. You agree not to send any message that:

• is hateful, harassing, bullying, threatening or discriminatory, or attacks anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic;
• is sexually explicit or sexually suggestive;
• contains personal information about you or anyone else, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles or links;
• is spam, advertising, a scam or an attempt to direct people elsewhere;
• encourages or glorifies self-harm, suicide, violence or illegal activity;
• impersonates someone else or infringes anyone’s rights;
• is otherwise objectionable or unlawful.

The app automatically filters some content before it is sent. The filter does not catch everything, and you remain responsible for what you post.

3. Reporting, Blocking and Hiding

• Report — every message has a Report button. A reported message is removed from everyone’s feed immediately, pending review.
• Block — you can block the sender of any message. You will not see any more messages from them. They are not told.
• Hide — you can hide any message so it never appears for you again.

4. How We Enforce These Terms

We review every report within 24 hours. If a message breaks these terms, we permanently delete it together with the sender’s other messages, and we block the sender from posting again. We may also remove any message, or refuse service to anyone, at our discretion. Enforcement relies on an anonymous device identifier and a hashed IP address stored with each message, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Your Messages

Messages are anonymous and are shown to random users. You keep any rights you have in your message, and you give us permission to store it and show it to other users of the app and website. You can delete your own message at any time with the deletion code shown after sending, at messageinabottleapp.com/delete. All messages are automatically deleted after 365 days.

6. Contact and Reporting Inappropriate Activity

To report a message, a user or anything else inappropriate, use the Report button in the app, or contact us:

If you can, include the text of the message and roughly when you saw it.

7. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, or use it to collect other users’ content automatically.

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

8. Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is". Messages are written by anonymous strangers and do not reflect our views. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for content posted by users or for any loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. When we make a material change, the app will ask you to agree to the new version before you continue.
